Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to self or another person/s, I am required by law to notify the appropriate authorities immediately and inform the intended victim.
  • If a court orders the therapist to disclose client information, I am required by law to report to court for testimony when subpoenaed to do so.
  • If a client intends to harm his self or herself, I will make every effort to enlist the client’s cooperation in ensuring the client’s safety. If this is not successful, the therapist will take further measures, without client permission, in order to ensure the client’s safety.
